At a last ditch attempt to stop the fairy you put you all into throwing the cross at the fairy in the hopes of hitting it. The cross describes a rather pathetic arc in the air and you recognize that while you're pretty fit from walking around all day, maybe doing some exercises for upper body strenght might be in order.

However, since the cross has such an unpredicteable way of flying, it hits the fairy right in the back and it corckscrews to the ground, letting go of the parcel in the process. Success!
You snatch it away and make a run for it, because as you well know, fairies are vengeful...
